TransparentSea Voyage 2011 Concludes!

Congratulations to the entire TransparentSea Voyage crew and support team for concluding a successful and magical ocean mission this month along our Southern California shores!  Along with four super fun and successful events held in Santa Barbara, Malibu, Dana Point, and Mission Bay, the sailing members were also joined on their boats by various actors/actresses, musicians, pro surfers, and surf legends who all share the same love and passion for our oceans and their creatures.

TransparentSea is an ongoing awareness campaign aimed at highlighting coastal environmental issues with particular attention given to cetaceans (whales and dolphins) and the waters they inhabit.

The first journey took place in Australia in 2009 and was conceptualised by world renowned freesurfer, Dave Rastovich and fellow Surfers For Cetaceans (S4C) co-founder and activist, Howie Cooke.

The second TransparentSea journey followed the southern migration of the California Grey Whale whale throughout the month of October, joining them near Santa Barbara on October 1st then heading down over four weeks to conclude near the USA-Mexico boarder on October 25th.

The participating surfers included Bing team riders Chris Del Moro and Lauren Hill, in addition to the S4C crew Dave Rastovich, Hilton Dawe, Howie Cooke, JJ, Will Conner and Justin Krumb.

Along the way the crew engaged key community groups and raised awareness and drew attention to the causes they support.
