The Bing Lightweight was first built in 1967 when deep concave noseriders were all the rage. Australian Nat Young won the 1966 world championships on the now famous 9'4" "Magic Sam" with no concave and a slimmed down fin he did turns no one had seen before. After this noseriding became less important and speed and turning became the focus. Bing designed the Lightweight model which then evolved into the modern longboard. This board is glassed lighter for increased maneuverability, hence the name "Lightweight". Designed with no concave and a step deck to lessen swing weight in turning, this board really performs in knee to head high range, excelling in offshore conditions due to the lack of concave.
