BING SURF SHOP: Coffee with Matt & Mick

March 05, 2014

Coffee Matt & Mick
Thanks to all who came out last Saturday to talk about our favorite topic, surfboards. Matt Calvani and Mick Rodgers were on hand to give insight on board design and a few stoked customers placed some custom orders to get ready for summer. We’re happy to say that Mick was able to sell enough TCSS clothing to make sure he’s well fed while in Australia. We’re proud to have Mick down in Noosa representing us at the Noosa Festival Competition, March 9-15, 2014. Visit http://www.noosafestivalofsurfing.com for more info.

If you missed this shop event don’t fret, we’re gonna be holding a lot more. Check back here for upcoming events and follow us on Instagram @bingsurfboards and @bingsurfshop so you’re always in the know.

What would you do if you were gifted an almost pristine 1970s Bing single fin? Would you keep it for yourself? Most probably would. Encinitas local Mario Ordoñez-Calderón saw it as an opportunity to give back to his community. Mario approached Bing Surfboards about raffling off the gorgeous 7’4” single fin to raise money for his local non-profit, Un Mar De Colores, and we gladly accepted. We’ll be holding 14 day raffle for this original Bing surfboard with a live drawing for the winner on July 17th. All proceeds will go to Un Mar De Colores.

Rest In Peace: Greg 'Da Bull' Noll
Rest In Peace: Greg 'Da Bull' Noll

June 29, 2021

We met in 1949 hanging on the rail of the Manhattan Beach pier watching Velzy and the older guys surfing planks and paddle boards on the waves below.  That was our introduction to  surfing, and the surfer life, that consumed us both for the next seventy plus years.  Even though we were competitors in the surfboard business we’ve always remained close friends and best buddies. Rest In Peace Greg, you’ll be missed. - Bing Copeland
