Bing Welcomes New Team Rider, Alessandro Ponzanelli of Italy
November 22, 2011
Bing Surfboards welcomes Italian native, Alessandro Ponzanelli, to the Bing team and family! Alessandro is a mild-mannered, smooth-sliding regular footer from Pietrasanta, Italy and you wouldn’t guess when chatting with this humble and amicable fella that he’s also a four-time Italian Longboard Champion ranking in the top 10 of the European Professional Surf Tour (7th in 2005). And it’s no wonder because Alessandro “Ponza” has travelled to the far reaches of the Earth in search of quality waves and the surfer’s dream.
We were driving at night and thus had already broken one of just two rules we made before crossing the southern border. It wasn’t really our fault. A long construction delay due to recent landslides held us up for over an hour. We passed white crosses on the winding downhill, marking those who’s brakes gave way or tequila got the best of them.
Thanks to all that made it to the Boardroom Show in Del Mar, and to our Bing Surf Shop re-opening party! Lot's of good friends came out to enjoy food by Bird's Eye Kitchen and beers by Saint Archer. We also premiered the movie trailer for our 60th Anniversary documentary series filmed and edited by Bryce Lowe White. Stay tuned for our event at SHAAC in San Clemente in July and our video premiere at Oceanside Surf Museum in August!
Commemorating 60 Years of Craftsmanship, Bing Surfboards is releasing a 3 part documentary series featuring key people in the history of this iconic surf company. Bryce Lowe White is responsible for this extensive project, and to get a taste of what's to come in July, we have this trailer to get you excited. We will be showing the documentary series at SHAAC in July as well, so be sure to stay tuned for more information.
