Bing Surfboard’s Midwest dealer, Third Coast Surf Shop, is celebrating the grand opening of their second store on Saturday, April 30, 2011 and we’re headed out there for the fun!  Located right on Lake Michigan, Third Coast Surf Shop’s St. Joseph location will be home to several new Bing Surfboards.  They’ll also be raffling off a brand new 6’0 Bing Q4 Model, all proceeds will go to Surfrider Foundation.  Click here to buy a raffle ticket.  Hope to see you there!

Travel is all about getting somewhere else. The journey, comically titled “the destination,” by some real masochists, feels more to me like a practical joke then a zen-buddha lesson in being present; a blur of drinking $9 Chardonnay while trying to stream Lego Batman across the isle and entertain a baby with a series of 10 second activities (tray table, crackers, seatbelt, headphones!).

Josh Peterson, hometown Virginia Beach (born) Haleiwa (currently living), and my brand is Peterson Surfcraft. 

When and where did you start surfing? Describe your first surfboard.

I started surfing when I was about 15 in Virginia Beach, and my first board was an old funboard from WRV that was about 7’6” and had glass on thrusters and an insane airbrush.

The first Bing I bought was from Bing Surf Shop and it was the Continental model. I think it’s the best noserider in the world and works great for any long, lined up wave. I’ve been riding it for about two years. I also just bought a new Izzy Rider Type II it is amazing! It’s so fast and turns on a dime. This will be the board I ride in surf contests.
