JOB DESCRIPTION

Bing Surfboards CNC Operator

Bing Surfboards is a surfboard manufacturer and retail seller of high
quality, made in CA surfboards and soft goods within the action sports
industry. Bing was originally established in 1959 by Bing Copeland and
has a large influence, history and participation within the surf
industry. Our factory is located on the historic “The Hill” in
Encinitas, CA and the retail store is 2 miles away on Coast Hwy 101 in Leucadia.

We are seeking a self-motivated, highly-organized, and detail-oriented
surfboard cutting technician, preferably with some knowledge or
experience with operating CNC machines and/or running a surfboard cutting service.
Applicants must be proficient with basic mathematics.  

Responsibilities:
*    Operate CNC machine
*    Maintain safe and clean office and warehouse environment
*    Conduct daily blank inventory and assist with blank orders
*    Receive and organize incoming blank shipments
*    Light office management and administrative work
*    Maintain dust collection system
Requirements:
*    High school Diploma or GED equivalent
*    Basic computer skills (E-mail, Word, Excel, etc.)
*    Must be able to lift 45+lbs overhead
Preferred Experience:
*    Previous or current work in surf or action sports industry
*    Shape 3D, AKU, Surf Cad experience preferred but not required
*    Knowledge of surfboard manufacturing preferred but not required
*    Ability to multi-task and work in various areas of the business
*    Prior knowledge or experience running a surfboard cutting service
This position offers 20-40 hours per week.  Wages are determined by

I started surfing when I was about 15 in Virginia Beach, and my first board was an old funboard from WRV that was about 7’6” and had glass on thrusters and an insane airbrush.

The first Bing I bought was from Bing Surf Shop and it was the Continental model. I think it’s the best noserider in the world and works great for any long, lined up wave. I’ve been riding it for about two years. I also just bought a new Izzy Rider Type II it is amazing! It’s so fast and turns on a dime. This will be the board I ride in surf contests.

At the beginning, it was just an idea, but at the same time, a challenge I had set for myself some time ago. Honestly, I saw it as complicated since it was my first time traveling alone to Europe, and I was curious and nervous because I was literally going to another country. The only thing that reassured me was being able to speak Spanish over there. But, of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of the entire BAPU beachware team who encouraged me and gave me the motivation not to doubt myself and make this a fulfilled goal, we organized various activities while presenting the short film "El Gordo" to raise funds for this trip.
