Assistant Manager or Sales Associate

Job Description:

 Objective:  Bing Surf Shop is seeking an enthusiastic and personable assistant manager or sales associate who is knowledgeable about surfboard design and construction, can help increase retail sales conversions, ring up customers, handle customer service, manage inventory, and receive and expand new product offerings.

– Previous surf retail sales experience preferred.
– Past experience with retail POS systems preferred, specifically Retail Pro
– Basic understanding of MS Office applications: Office, Excel, Outlook preferred
-Ability to encourage and convert sales on the floor
-Must have basic understanding and knowledge about surfboard construction, features, and design
-Facilitate custom surfboard orders
-Ability to maintain inventory counts
-Detailed Merchandising: Folded tees, proper sizing, uniform hangers, hanger distance, organization, proper hanging.
-Excel in customer service with the ability to respond to customer complaints and comments quickly and effectively
-Assist in the implementation of special promotions, window displays, and events. 
-Maintain store appearance by dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping down surfboards
-Assist with receiving and tagging merchandise on a regular basis.
-Inventory and pull appropriate levels of Bing apparel on a weekly basis.
-Help facilitate board deliveries/pick-ups to and from factory. 
-Open/Close shop 2 days per week

When and where did you start surfing? Describe your first surfboard.

I started surfing when I was about 15 in Virginia Beach, and my first board was an old funboard from WRV that was about 7’6” and had glass on thrusters and an insane airbrush.

At the beginning, it was just an idea, but at the same time, a challenge I had set for myself some time ago. Honestly, I saw it as complicated since it was my first time traveling alone to Europe, and I was curious and nervous because I was literally going to another country. The only thing that reassured me was being able to speak Spanish over there. But, of course, none of this would have been possible without the support of the entire BAPU beachware team who encouraged me and gave me the motivation not to doubt myself and make this a fulfilled goal, we organized various activities while presenting the short film "El Gordo" to raise funds for this trip.
