Richard Kotch and his Bing Dart

June 08, 2015

We all know that the best surf days are those when Surfline says ‘Poor,’ but we paddle out anyways and the conditions end up being super fun. Well, Richard Kotch had one of those days but to the next level. Richard describes the day:

“Sometimes you’ve just got to paddle out! This morning had moments but it was nothing special, I had been swimming for a couple hours when a big squall hit and ripped the swell apart…complete whiteout conditions and totally un surfable so we went in for a coffee…twenty mins later the sky lightened slightly and the wind hinted at backing off so I paddled out. The next 45 mins were the best waves I’ve seen so far this season!”

Richard is riding his Bing Surfboards Dart Round Pin, and really proving that this board can handle anything from medium days here in Encinitas, to huge 3x overhead days in the Maldives. Way to really put this board through its paces Richard and thank you Amy Kotch for the amazing photograph!

Interview with Mario Ordoñez-Calderón of 'Un Mar De Colores'

July 02, 2021

What would you do if you were gifted an almost pristine 1970s Bing single fin? Would you keep it for yourself? Most probably would. Encinitas local Mario Ordoñez-Calderón saw it as an opportunity to give back to his community. Mario approached Bing Surfboards about raffling off the gorgeous 7’4” single fin to raise money for his local non-profit, Un Mar De Colores, and we gladly accepted. We’ll be holding 14 day raffle for this original Bing surfboard with a live drawing for the winner on July 17th. All proceeds will go to Un Mar De Colores.

Rest In Peace: Greg 'Da Bull' Noll

June 29, 2021

We met in 1949 hanging on the rail of the Manhattan Beach pier watching Velzy and the older guys surfing planks and paddle boards on the waves below.  That was our introduction to  surfing, and the surfer life, that consumed us both for the next seventy plus years.  Even though we were competitors in the surfboard business we’ve always remained close friends and best buddies. Rest In Peace Greg, you’ll be missed. - Bing Copeland

Artist Spotlight: Eric "E.D." Diamond

Eric Diamond, or "E.D.", as most of us know him, has deep roots that started back when his father, Daryl Diamond, drove the Clark Foam delivery truck with Eric riding shotgun.

Fast forward to today, Eric did a couple of designs for us here at Bing; "Waves of Change" and "Planer". They obviously reflect his passion for the transitional period. We are thrilled to have him as a Bing Ambassador / Artist and are proud to present his work for your enjoyment.
