After many successful years offering the midrange Alpha Pin single fin version, we re-worked the model by thinning it out, reducing the vee and adding a bit of double concave. We found that it worked amazing with a quad fin set up. Adding these performance elements lent to this design working exceptional at shorter lengths. At 6’10" we found a great balance between midrange padding and wave catching with a high performance turn. We then went down to 6’0”, added a tucked edge shortboard rail for release to generate speed and maneuverability, and we found a balanced design that lends to very high performance surfing. After myself and our team put the board through a wide range of wave conditions and sizes, Bing team rider Christian Marcher who initiated the idea of going shorter had this to say about the board.
"I fell in love with the outline of the Alpha Pin the second I saw one in the shop for the first time, as it's just a beautiful and classic design, The wide point forward gives it incredible paddle ability similar to a fish without sacrificing any of the maneuverability. A tight pulled in pintail combined with the high performance elements. It feels similar to a twin fin in the way that it speeds up mid way through a carve, but with the pintail and quad fin setup you’re able to push as hard as you want on any size day. I personally ride this model at 6'0" through 6'10" and love everything about it. Stoked to see how it goes this winter!" - Christian Marcher
